Bonnie Way is a freelance editor who has worked on educational resources, operational training resources, academic papers, church bulletins, newsletters, and novels.  She has a solid background in grammar which allows her to assist writers in clearly communicating with readers.  Bonnie has completed a B.A. in English and is currently working on a B.A. in writing.  She has also taken courses on copy editing and has extensive editing experience.

 

I believe an editor is a bridge between a writer and a reader.  As a writer, I know how hard it is to put words together on a page to tell a story (whether that story is long or short).  As a reader, I know that I want to get lost in a story without being distracted by poor punctuation or puzzling problems.  As an editor, I can bring my experiences as writer and reader together to help other writers create the best reading experience possible.  Writing and editing is about communication – reaching out to readers.  As an editor, I come alongside the writer to make sure that they are reaching their readers and to correct any problems that may cause their readers to stumble and stop reading.

I offer proofreading and copy editing services for short stories, novels, articles, blogs, etc.  (I will not look at poetry or screenplays.)  I am happy to assess an writer’s work for weak areas and then to offer mini grammar or writing lessons addressing those weaknesses so that the writer can correct those issues in their own writing.  Please contact me for a quote about your particular project; my rates average about $1 per page but that depends on how much is required for the project and how long the project is.  I am also willing to consider exchanging services.
